Mercy in Action is a non-profit organization that focuses on the crisis in Maternal/Newborn/Child health care worldwide. A Midwifery School, as well as seminars and training retreats are held each year to prepare midwives, doctors, and nurses to meet the global shortage of skilled birth attendants, and to help primary health care workers prevent unnecessary child deaths.

Doula Workshop

TRAIN TO BECOME A DOULA
This Doula training was birthed by the midwives of Mercy In Action in acknowledgement that all women deserve loving and compassionate labor support regardless of their chosen location for giving birth.  As midwives, we understand the value of labor support, and believe that training more doulas is an integral step in improving Birth outcomes for mothers and infants. Instructors for our workshop are midwives themselves, with experience working in hospital birth and community birth (home and birth centers.)

Note: If you are an applicant for the Mercy In Action College of Midwifery, you must complete Phase I before enrolling in the college.

Discount: There is a $100 discount on the workshop for paying 60 days in advance, and a $50 discount for paying 30 days in advance.

There are no refunds for any reason except a birth on the day of the seminar. If you cannot attend, we will gladly transfer your fees to another course we teach, or convert them into a donation.

NARM STUDY RETREAT - Boise

Location: Boise, Idaho: The retreat is held in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of the Northwest, in the capital city of Boise, Idaho.

INTENSIVE PREPARATION FOR TAKING THE NORTH AMERICAN REGISTRY OF MIDWIVES EXAM
Five days of focused review, taught and guided by Vicki Penwell, a midwife with experience preparing over 400 students to pass NARM and become CPMs using this method of intense retreat review and practice testing. While there are no guarantees, a very high percentage of students who studied with Vicki have passed NARM the first time.

This special retreat offers five full days of study with a different practice multiple-choice test each day, oral quizzes, individual guidance with test taking tips, and evenings spent in review, reflection, reading, nature walks and spiritual calm. Pharmacology for Midwives - Silver Springs, Maryland

This course worth 8 MEAC ACCREDITED CEU HOURS will discuss treatment of conditions requiring drug therapy in midwifery care as well as focus on all aspects of the select formulary of drugs to be used in midwifery care in Maryland-most of these are used by midwives in other states as well. In addition, we will take a fresh look at the side effects and dangers of drugs commonly used by pregnant and lactating women in America, and learn new best practice for protecting the health and safety of mothers and babies in the midwife’s care in out-of-hospital settings.  Skills needed to safely use drugs and inform women of choices will be reviewed.
