Mercy in Action is a non-profit organization that focuses on the crisis in Maternal/Newborn/Child health care worldwide. A Midwifery School, as well as seminars and training retreats are held each year to prepare midwives, doctors, and nurses to meet the global shortage of skilled birth attendants, and to help primary health care workers prevent unnecessary child deaths.

Bridge Certificate

Are you a CPM who came in under the PEP process?

You now have the opportunity to earn the narm Midwifery bridge certificate through Mercy In Action's continuing education courses

Because of Mercy In Action's commitment to excellent continuing education, we are excited by NARM's new Midwifery Bridge certificate. Mercy In Action has everything you need to accomplish this historical opportunity!

This is an exciting time for PEP CPMs who may have been worried they would get locked out of opportunities. The North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) has just rolled out a US MERA approved Midwifery Bridge Certificate for PEP CPMs to help them meet requirements in certain states. Some states already require this to be licensed. This certificate is NOT required for all CPMs, nor is it the equivalent of a MEAC accredited degree, but it IS a wonderful opportunity for excellent continuing education and future options.

On the NARM website, you will see that Mercy In Action has all the accredited courses that a PEP CPM will need to meet that bridge.  Of course, you can take any of the approved courses, from any other organizations or individuals who offer continuing education, but if you want to do all or part of the bridge through Mercy In Action, we will help you.  (Note: Mercy In Action has no connection to NARM; we just offer courses that CPM midwives can use for NARM renewal or the new NARM Midwifery Bridge Certificate.)

The FIRST step is to understand what it is being offered  by NARM; read their website carefully before you proceed.

As you read over the requirements, you will see that NARM requires certain types of courses in certain categories, and some must be hands on.  We will show you how you can meet all the requirements with just one live seminar and the rest of the courses online.

if you want to Bridge exclusively through mercy in action:

Here is how, in 3 easy steps:

Step one: Take these three online courses we offer

~ ONLINE CULTURAL COMPETENCY & RESPECT IN THE PROVISION OF MATERNITY CARE

http://www.mercyinaction.com/online-global-midwifery-skills

~ ONLINE NAVIGATING ETHICAL STUDENT/PRECEPTOR/CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS

Step 2: Sign up for Mercy In Action's  4 day live seminar taught at various locations around the USA:

That will give you all the hours you need, in all the correct categories.

Then just download the application from the NARM website, and when you come for the Expect the Unexpected seminar, Mercy In Action staff will help you fill out your bridge paperwork; just print it and bring it with you.

An alternate Plan would be to combine other live courses we teach that are also approved by NARM:

More about the NARM Midwifery bridge

Our Mercy In Action MEAC accredited continuing education courses are priced at $25 to $35 per credit hour, which is very reasonable for courses like these. To meet the Bridge requirements, you will need 50 hours, in the right combination of maternal and newborn hours. This could take you years and lots of travel if you piecemeal it together, or you could complete it fairly quickly through Mercy In Action by doing our 3 online courses and attending the "Expect the Unexpected"  4-day Intensive seminar ($900 discounted to $700 if you have already done our online courses and sign up 30 days in advance of the seminar)...AND you only have to travel away from home once, which also cuts down costs considerably...AND you can use these same CEUs to renew your CPM next time it is due for renewal, making it a double bargain!

Special Offer Discount:  If you have previously signed up for at least 3 of our Mercy In Action online courses at the time you register for the "Expect the Unexpected" seminar, we will discount your seminar from $900 to $700, and help with filling out your NARM Midwifery Bridge Certificate application at no extra charge. To get this discount, you must write an email to info@mercyinaction.com to confirm that you have already purchased the Mercy In Action Online courses. When you get the go-ahead, you can sign up for $700 as long as it is at least 30 days ahead of the seminar.

NOTE: If you took any of our online courses or attended the Mercy In Action Global Midwifery Skills or another live seminar within the past 5 years, that will count for you toward this bridge; no need to re-purchase those online courses.

How to get started:

Step 1: Begin with any of our online courses. As soon as you pay with your credit card, the course is available to you and you can start immediately.

Step 2: Sign up for the next "Expect the Unexpected" seminar date that works for you. We have planned several all over the USA in the coming year and more may be scheduled at any time, so keep watching the postings for a location near you, or a location you would love to travel to!
